A visual exploration of causality in epidemiology.

Helping researchers and students build intuition for complex concepts.
Next to it: a preview from the course material created for medical students.
The goal is to illustrate biostatistical concepts used in epidemiological research through population simulations.
This is not strictly popular science, but rather a teaching resource designed to help students understand complex concepts related to the study of disease risk factors. The animation demonstrates how images can become a tool for scientific reasoning, not just a way to illustrate existing knowledge.
The video illustrates essential yet challenging concepts such as association (and the strength of association), confounding, and interaction (in additive and multiplicative models). By varying the composition of populations, it visually demonstrates their impact on ratios and disparities.
