Turning classroom experiments into live data.

Teachers should spend their time explaining physics, not configuring software. Data Viz turns smartphone sensor data into live visualizations through an interface designed for the classroom, not the command line.

The Phyphox app can turn a smartphone into a scientific instrument, but using that data in a classroom isn’t straightforward. Teachers shouldn’t have to configure servers, write scripts, or manipulate JSON just to demonstrate a physics experiment.

Initiated by Frédéric Bouquet, the project transforms raw sensor data into a simple web interface where experiments can be prepared, launched, and visualized in real time.

Rather than exposing teachers to technical tools, we designed an interface that lets them configure experiments through clicks instead of code. Behind it, a REST API connects with Phyphox, making the system easy to integrate while keeping the experience accessible to non-technical users.

The application runs on any PHP 8 server without additional dependencies, allowing schools and educators to deploy it with minimal setup. As an open-source project, it can be freely adapted and extended to support new experiments.
